HPTT Goal 5b: Research Empirical Data
Analyze empirical data to support the theories of effective teaching, adult learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration
I believe that effective teaching starts from understanding our learners and ourselves as educators. This understanding, when underscored by evidence based teaching, can provide a powerful affect on learning outcomes. The article critique of Servant Leadership framework for health professions education centers around a collaborative approach to leadership and patient care that focuses on service, listening, empathy, and healing (Murphy, et al 2020). This focus fosters interdisciplinary education that is priority for health professions. The Working Memory paper discusses strategies to assist in the increase of learner understanding. Building a module for ergonomics in dental hygiene through the lens of working memory best practices needs to become a priority as we prepare our learners for long term career success. Knowing our leadership style and best approaches for learners to support their education are key points in utilizing research that undergirds both.
