HPTT Goal 7b: Leadership in Health Professions Education
Demonstrate leadership in health professions education through innovation, mentorship, and reflective practice.
For Goal 7b, I chose the Oral Health Plan that I created outside of this program for a patient with late stage Alzheimer’s disease. The plan highlights my leadership through a course development for the long term care facility staff directly caring for the patient and his oral health. By educating the direct caregivers and simplifying the process, the impact is far-reaching as the CNAs have gained skills that apply to other residents as well. The second artifact I chose for this goal was the Final Leadership Project from 823 which contains the strategy of my larger vision for faculty calibration. I utilize storytelling and reflection as pathway to reach the team members and come together for a unified process. Both of these projects taught me that leadership can take on many roles, and every role can impact patients, educators, and learners in various ways for improved outcomes.
