HPTT Goal 8b: Learner Assessment

Create engaging learning solutions to improve health professions education.

I chose two artifacts for Goal 8b from course 805 that support creative assessment solutions. The first is a rubric I created for the Oral Anatomy course that allows the student to understand the expectations clearly and to self-assess their presentations. This gave them an opportunity for self reflective practice not otherwise utilized in their other coursework. The second artifact is a gaming tool I utilized outside of this program that presents both technology and collaborative pieces that engage learners. Although I have been using the Kahoot! tool for several years, I was able to integrate it for better outcomes in another course for first year students. I witnessed how the students better understood the content and could apply the knowledge in the clinical setting more efficiently than previous classes.
