HPTT Goal 8a: Learner Assessment
Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of instructional strategies and student learning achievements through the evaluation of program and /or curricula outcomes
The artifacts I chose to support the 8a Assessment goal both from course 805. These papers both represent the priority of Competency Based Education (CBE) in dental hygiene. The first paper gives a framework for CBE for the Millennial learner and why it matters. The second paper highlights how CBE and critical thinking intersect for the dental hygiene learner. CBE is important for the Millennia learner because it focuses on learner-directed instruction for better understanding and improved learning outcomes. As the generation of learners is changing, we too as educators need to assess our curricula for needed change that best serves our learners. Effective education starts with understanding what is meaningful and impactful for our learners so they can forward their knowledge and skills into best practices in their careers.
